Twenty suspected asylum seekers intercepted off WA

Just one day after news reports of ’28 ‘boat people’ being granted permanent residency and being settled in South Australia, ABC news reported that the Australian navy had intercepted a boat off the northern coast of Western Australia and was escorting 20 suspected asylum seekers to Christmas Island Detention Centre.

Even though the arrival of these two news items in close proximity has not aroused much anti-asylum seeker rhetoric in the media as yet, I have no doubt that after they come back from Christmas holidays next week ‘journaists’ like Andrew Bolt will provide filling for that gap.

I shall keep a watch for this sort of comment – please let me know if you spot any.
