People who care about migrants, refugees, and citizenship

  1. Dear Nayano Taylor-Neumann, Nice to meet some one who really cares and to see the progress that is happening in Murray Bridge. I really didn’t know all this has been happening, I am proud of you and makes me proud to be an Australian. Have been living in Bali Indonesia I understand a lot more about where the refugees have come. For example the Balinese people are very happy people with very little in possessions, I feel we all could learn much from this race of people.
Now I just wanted to share this with you, although I have my own project in mind as you can read below, I dont know if you can help me too…
I wrote the letter below on the 2nd of Dec 2009

    Attention Murraylands Migrant Resource Centre
    South Australian Multicultural Settlement Services
    5 Second Street
    Murray Bridge SA 5253
    Tel: (08) 8532 3922
    Fax: (08) 8532 2933

Dear Sir/Madame, I am writing with an interest to return to my home town of Adelaide South Australia, as I have been living for the last 6 years in Bali Indonesia. While here in Bali I have learnt much about the Balinese culture, the people and their traditions. I operate a Day Spa business here with traditional treatments, for example Traditional Massage, Herbal and Stone Massage, Reflexology and Stone Reflexology and Facial treatments including Ear Candle ( for removing wax from your ear).

I already have some of my Australian family in Murray Bridge, so I would like to setup a new business in Murray Bridge. I would like to operate a Balinese Spa business, and include employing some Balinese/Indonesian staff. I am interested to relocate one of two of my staff from Bali over the next twelve months to assist in keeping the Balinese theme in my spa in Australia.

I believe this to be a unique venture and will definitely become a tourist attraction for Murray Bridge as the business expands. If I am not wrong this will the first Balinese Spa in South Australia.

Why I am writing to you is to ask for assistance with Immigration to help to make easy entrance for my Indonesian Staff and for my Indonesian wife to come and live in Australia. For your information I was born in Adelaide in 1953 and have only lived away from Australia during the last 6 years in which I lived in Bali Indonesia.

I hope you can assist me as I am looking to travel to Adelaide Feb-March this year to research a suitable location and then hope to make the transfer by middle of 2010.

Thank you for your time to read my story. I will await your comments.

    Best Regards,

    Stephen Monkhouse

    • Hi Stephen
      Thanks for your kind words.
I have passed your letter on to two organisations in the Murraylands that assist new business and may also be able to assist with migration.
I believe that you will need a migration agent to assist you, however. I know some poersonally, and could give you their contacts if you would like.
      All the best!
